McDaniel Elected Vice President

Congratulations to Karen Cotton McDaniel on her recent election as Vice President of AAGGKY!!! Karen, a Charter Member of The Group, recently led lively discussions in Winchester on using the Federal Census, death and other vital records to uncover hidden clues to African American ancestry.

Karen Cotton McDaniel is co-editor of the Kentucky African American Encyclopedia, and is on the Kentucky Historical Society Executive Committee Board. Ms. McDaniel was Visiting Scholar at Eastern Kentucky University in the African/African American Studies and the Women's Studies Programs; a former Carter G. Woodson lecturer at the University of Kentucky; and was Director of Libraries and is Professor Emeritus at Kentucky State University. She has published numerous essays on Black Kentuckians.
